Yellow Flag Iris

I completed this painting today by adding the seed heads. The iris was painted in June but the seed heads were not formed until September. It was an interesting subject to paint and I particularly enjoyed the seed heads.

About the artist

I am a part time artist working in Surrey. I paint botanical subjects in watercolour and also enjoy portraying some subjects in graphite. I have a Diploma from the Society of Botanical Artists and have exhibited and sold at their London exhibition a number of times. I am a member of the North Downs Botanical Artists group which meet regularly and have held several successful exhibitions. I gain inspiration for my paintings from walking and riding through the Surrey countryside and the plants I grow in my small garden.
