These radishes were another colourful subject from the Riverford Farm box.

Wayside Grasses

Uncategorised Posted on 07 Jul, 2020 20:25
Recently I have begun to take an interest in the huge variety of grasses to be seen when out walking in fields, on rough ground and on grass verges. Many of them are very attractive when observed closely. I have painted four common grasses that can be found on waysides. I have identified them as l-r Italian Ryegrass, Catstail, Wall Barley and Creeping Bent. The butterfly, added for interest, is a Small Heath.

Turnip

Uncategorised Posted on 27 Jun, 2020 19:28
This turnip is unusual in that it has grown four roots instead of a single tap root which made it an interesting subject for a vegetable portrait. This specimen would probably never be found in a supermarket amongst the more perfect specimens but arrived in our Riverford farm vegetable box which is an excellent source of veg for painting as well as eating!

Rainbow Carrots

Carrots of hope!
These rainbow carrots arrived in the vegetable box from Riverford farms and made a good subject for a topical painting. A botanical version of the rainbows of hope being displayed at the present time.

Colourful Tulips

Uncategorised Posted on 11 May, 2020 14:37
You never know what you will get in a bag of mixed tulip bulbs. These impressive tulips were in the same collection as the yellow tulips I painted previously. Such stunning colours!

A little picture of spring flowers growing in my small garden. Heather, celandines and grape hyacinths

Poster

Uncategorised Posted on 27 Apr, 2020 19:13

I was asked to do this poster to display in the shop I work in. We have a collection box for people to donate to NHS charities if they wish to during this difficult time.

Yellow Tulips

Uncategorised Posted on 19 Apr, 2020 20:42

These beautiful pale yellow tulips fade to white as they age. The pink tips on the petals are an interesting feature and fade with the yellow.
